Elderly Services

The Home Help Service under BCCSC's Elderly Services was established by the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) with the aim of helping the frail elderly to continue coping with daily living and socialising in their familiar community, even in their old age.

The range of affordable solutions to the needs of the frail aged include:

Meals-on-Wheels

Two cooked meals are delivered twice a day to the doorstep of the elderly who have problems preparing meals or purchasing them.

Escort Service

Sends elderly members to and fro for their periodic medical check-up or follow-up at the hospitals.

Assistance in home management

Takes care of routine household chores on a regular basis for elderly members who have difficulty managing them.

Assistance in personal hygiene

For members who require special help in bathing, in-house assistance in bathing is available.

Laundry Service

Helps in the regular washing of clothes and bed linen for elderly who are unable to do their own laundry.

Criteria for Home Help Serivces.

Person age 55 years and above
Frail and homebound
Living alone or with another frail elderly or caregiver who is unable to provide assistance
Without a caregiver during the day
Unable to prepare complete meals or obtain food from other sources but able to feed themselves
Require assistance in their activities of daily living
Require regular medical check-ups and follow-ups
